| This is our annual hike to honor Matt Prentice and always the our biggest group of the year. This year we will be hiking to Showers Lake from Carson Pass on Hwy 88. Showers Lake is a beautiful alpine lake and a wonderful place to have lunch. The hike does not have any great elevation gain but is a ten mile roundtrip. The entire route is by trail so there will be no cross country hiking. We will hike through mountain wildflowers and have great vistas along the route of the surrounding peaks and Caples Lake. Hope you can join us. |

| One of my favorite hikes will outstanding wildflowers and incredible views. We hike to the top of Donner Peak, high above Donner Lake. This is one of the best lunch stops in the Tahoe Sierra. After lunch we climb neighboring Mt Judah where you are provided with a fantastic 360 degree view. If you want another peak we can add nearby Mt Lincoln, your choice. |

| This is a climb through a ferny, mossy bay forest that passes a waterfall and eventually reaches an abandoned fire lookout tower on the summit of Barnabe Peak (1466 feet). The route is nicely graded so it is not steep. On a clear day, the summit provides a great view of the Pacific Ocean, Tomales Bay and Point Reyes. It is a six mile hike with 1300 feet of elevation gain in the first 3 miles.
The hike will benefit Pacific Wildlife Care centered in Morro Bay and treating injured sea birds and animals. |

| Mt Tam, the highpoint of Marin County, offers an amazing view on a clear day. You can see San Francisco, SF Bay, the Pacific Ocean and many landmarks. We will start from Rock Spring, where we have begun one of our regular hikes, the Coastal Trail. Instead of heading west, we will head east to the summit. This is an 8 mile roundtrip hike with approximately 1,000 feet of elevation gain in the first four miles. The wildflowers should be out and the view should be spectacular. |

| Alkali Flat (bounded by D and H Streets and 7th and 12th Streets)is Sacramento's oldest neighborhood with some homes dating back to the 1850's. Many of these homes are still standing and represent many different styles of classic Victorian architecture. Take a 2-3 hour tour with me where you will learn the history of the homes and something about the architecture. We may be joined by James Scott and/or Tom Tolley, historians and librarians, who published a history of Alkali Flat last month that was featured in the Sacramento Bee.
The hike will benefit Sacramento Central Library and is $15. |

| It is a special feeling to wander through the snow-covered trees in the solitude of the forest. Snowshoeing is simple and requires no previous experience. We will either climb Robb's Peak (one a forest service road) near Loon Lake or go to Echo Lake and the heights above it. You get to vote (I pick if you don't). The attachment provides everything you need to know to prepare yourself for the hike. More than dozen of you say you are interested so that is enough to go (if you all sign up).
Our charity is St Johns Womens/Childrens Shelter (St Johns Shelter). Please send in your checks to the PO box listed on the website so I receive them prior to the hike. Thanks, Bob |
